Hi, thank you for your list of soldiers on the Isle of Wight. I am trying to find out a bit more about the Depot Battalion which was serving at Parkhurst Barracks in the 1850s. The 1851 Census shows my relative Samuel Nichols serving under Colonel Jeremiah Taylor. I do not see either of them in your list. Do you know where I can look for more info on this Battalion? I have been to Kew, hence I know it was a Depot Battalion, but I couldn’t find anything else. Any thoughts, please? Hilary

looking for henry thompson 38th regiment of foot – discharged at parkhurst depot july 25, 1866. served in india.

Have you come acoss the above name? Henry Stagg married my Great Grandmother, Lucy Jane Forehead, on Christmas day 1883. Henry was shown as being attached to The Seaforth Highlanders. They had a child Hilda about 18 months after marrying but then Henry seems to disappear.
