My Great Grand-Father James Beresford Watson was a warder from 1881 to 1919. Would love and really appreciate any information. Are there any prison group photo's? My g.g.father was also a school master at the prison. Would also love to know where Tin Pot lane was and 6 cottage view was. Would be more than willing to join your group to donate membership. I image he was buried on the Isle of Wight, tried to find it when I managed to vist in 2008 but had no success. I do have information on my Grand father whowas born on the Isle of Wight;(he was awarded the MM and MBE.)

I came across your website whilst searching for my Great x3 Grandfather Thomas Stephen HARRIS, who was Assistant Warder at Parkhurst Prison about 1850. He is on the 1851 census aged 44yrs, orginally from Pimlico, Surrey. His occuation is listed as Chelsea Pensioner, Asst Warder at PP. From the information I have he was only there a few of years from about 1847 and he diied in 1852, and is buried in South Stoneham, Hampshire.
Any information you have about him would be greatly appreciated.

Regarding Haydon Aldersey Taylor, he was born in 1826 in Southwark and died in Portsmouth (or Southsea?) in late-1904.
He was certainly on the IoW in 1873 having moved from being a Chaplain at Portland. Evidence for this is that his daughter Lilian Aldersey Taylor is shown as having died on the IoW on 4th June, 1873 aged 15, while Oxford University also notes that as the year that he went there. Similarly Haydon's wife, Mary Coutart Taylor died on the IoW on 13th September 1890. Haydon had been an Army Chaplian in the Crimea 1n 1854-5. I would be interested in any information/images of Haydon and his family during the IoW years and also in Lilian's cause of death.
