  A few miscellaneous names, mentioned in the IW County Press and other records, as serving at other prisons, but obviously having a connection with the Island at some point.


WILKERSON Charles .. Warder of Clerkenwell, patient Ventnor Consumption Hospital Oct-Dec 1870.

KENDRIGAN and family, left Parkhurst and can be found at Portsea on the 1891 census.

HARPER T. .. been at Parkhurst for 16 yrs, appointed Prison Superintendent in Nigeria – Apr 1917.

MORGAN James .. of Portsmouth – Cowes, Aug 1857 – baptism of son.

WHITE T. .. retired Warder 1918,  Imperial Service Medal in recognition of service 36 yrs –

LYNCH Allan (Paddy) .. County Press Dec 1934 – Retirement from Parkhurst, also other details including his Military career, an extensive article.

GREVE John .. Newport June 1851 .. Warder & Quartermaster of Convict Ship – death of dau.

WITHERS George Henry .. Camp Hill Prison – died 29 May 1942 (details thanks to Den Budden)

GLENISTER James J. 68 .. 1871 census Newport – Fmly Clerk in Convict Prison [b.Bucks].

LOVING Fanny 30 .. 1871 census Newport – Fmly Matron at Woking Prison [b.Northwood].

HOOPER George Neal .. former clerk at Parkhurst, died at Chelmsford age 78 (County Press Obit Feb 1937)

SHORTT Thomas .. Inspector of Prisons, died age 52 in Mar 1843 Newport,  from Royal Naval College Portsmouth.
